Thank you for reading or viewing these pages.
This website is the culmination of several years worth of my thoughts, feelings and ideas on how I can help motivate and inspire others. It is set up in the following way and sectors
- Motivation in Theory – a simple look at motivation, followed by a number of sub sections – motivational people, places, life, love and family, Chinese proverbs, quotes, sports and leisure
- Motivation in Art form – looking at how motivation appears in art, music, poetry, and photography
- …and a blog and forum, where you can register and take part in topics related to motivation and hopefully some lifestyle problem solving
I have been fortunate in the 50 years I have had so far, to live a rich lifestyle in terms of people I have met, including experiences I have encountered. Most importantly, I am a parent and therefore endeavour to be a positive role model to a lovely family. Understand that I am no life coach, motivation guru, renowned author or after dinner speaker, though these are areas of my life I am considering developing in time. Why? Because I am at heart a “people person” who likes to help others out. I have been on many a course which deals with motivation and handling change, including completing an Institute of Leadership and Management course. On that course I researched and presented a referenced paper on motivational theories and what would work best for the organisation and team I was working for. So I do have some academic experience relating to motivation. Personally, I have also seen, heard, and born witness myself, to what a number of people have endured in life…..constant change, lack of confidence, remaining positive and dealing with people, conflicts and life issues. I hope you like what you see and read. I appreciate any constructive positive feedback, and want to encourage a kind of constructive community spirit in discussions. There are people out there with fantastic skills, knowledge and ability to help make others feel good about themselves and the life they lead….
A dedication
Firstly, This website is dedicated with love and hugs to my two beautiful daughters and family, without whom I would not have had the focus, motivation or nucleus to start with. Being a parent you want to help your children to develop themselves and become “those shining lights” in years to come, and have happy, rewarding lives.
An acknowledgement
Secondly, this is my way of giving something back to a whole host of wonderful people I have had the privilege of knowing in my life, or meeting recently, and whom have been a real positive influence on me for a whole host of reasons. The fact that I have taken a big step outside my comfort zone now, bridging confidence issues, and putting myself “out there” for once in my life, is testimony to them, and where I have come from Earth, and where I am heading to now. Life, after all, is about giving, whether that be you, your time, money, love, an opportunity or whatever.
A community
This website is not just about, for, or by, me. It is also hopefully going to grow into a positive hub for like minded people, and for others to glean from, plus with others permission, allow me to share and showcase their talents and capabilities too. The world today is often driven by conflicting needs and desires, often negative, and by people with a lack of love, care and time, poor communication skills, negativity, hype, numerous untruths, and almost a wilful destruction of other people’s souls, confidence and reason for being here. It is like no respect exists at times.
We condemn people for their mistakes and don’t allow them to learn from them. We often overlook what people can do, and how beautiful they are, because we are wrapped up in ourselves and how we appear to the world. We can make ill informed judgements about others and dismiss them, where we should take time to understand them better, nurture, and see what they can do. Help them turn negatives into positives.
Look beyond what is in front of you
How many times have we viewed a person in a wheelchair, or someone with learning difficulties, or who looks too young or old, alien, or perhaps appears to be struggling with life, and just dismissed them because they are not like us….or to use that horrible descriptor, not “normal”. Thankfully, the world is beginning to realise that even with life’s limitations, we are all blessed with an array of talents and abilities. We have examples and role models from all walks, who buck the trend of potential “no hopers”, who have become renowned people in their own right, and have shown the vast majority what humans are capable of…living a positive rewarding life. We need to celebrate these people, the inspiration to us and more besides. Most of all, when we see people suffering or in need of help, or an opportunity, we need to guide and motivate them to excel in life and feel human, loved, respected and happy. Happiness is a journey not the destination.
